• Asian Productivity Organization (APO)

  The Asian Productivity Organization was founded in 1961 to help promote improved productivity in Asia and the Pacific. As well as agriculture, its mandate covers industry and services.  It has offices in each of 18 member countries. Its website describes the programs in these countries. The section on agriculture describes its work related to policies, resources and technology, and agricultural support systems.

• Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

  This large site lists all the projects and programs carried out by JICA in various regions of the world.  It also discusses major global issues such as the environment, AIDS and poverty, and describes what JICA is doing to help developing countries solve related problems.

• Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS)

  This organization, based in Japan,  replaced the Tropical Agricultural Research Center (TARC). It is one of the 29 research institutes belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF). It is a research center dealing with agricultural issues from an international perspective. It implements research programs pertaining to agriculture, forestry and fisheries in collaboration with various organizations located in the developing regions of the world. These research programs aim to help the target countries achieve sustainable development of agriculture, forestry and fisheries compatible with the preservation of the environment on a global scale. The web site describes the work of JIRCAS in each Division, and presents a summary of recent research. The website also provides the full (English) text of recent issues of JARQ (Japan Agricultural Research Quarterly).
