Welcome to FFTC

Food and Fertilizer Technology Center for the Asian and Pacific region (FFTC) was set up in 1970. We are going to celebrate our 50th anniversary next year. The current mission of FFTC is to promote sustainable agricultural and rural development in the Asian and Pacific Region. Currently our Center has five member countries, namely Japan, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam, and Indonesia as an Observer country. We have been working very closely with Thailand and Malaysia and establish cooperative relationship with many other countries.

Over the past 49years, FFTC as an international agricultural technological and policy information center in the Asian and Pacific region has played an immensely important role in collecting, exchanging, and disseminating information on a wide range of modern and practical agricultural technologies and agricultural policy, covering the full spectrum of farm needs and activities relevant to the region. Through its various activities like seminars and workshops, training courses, and regional surveys, we have accumulated a huge body of knowledge and information on agriculture made possible through the works of hundreds of people from member countries and partner institutions. Disseminated through publications, training courses and demonstration projects, these knowledge and information have given countless farmers and extension specialists in the region new opportunities and new solutions to their problems. Our Center also develops agricultural policy and dragon fruit networks with effective mechanism and websites to collect and disseminate useful knowledge and information for the researchers, academies and policy makers. We believe the good and smart policy is very important to promote sustainable agricultural and rural development in the Asian and Pacific region.

Currently the Center has four websites, three facebooks and two newsletters. These websites provide free-of-charge of the full text of its publications. The FFTC websites and database have become an important information resource on Asian agriculture for researchers, academies, experts, extension workers and farmers. The growing use of the FFTC website/publication database gave a larger number of people access to the Center’s technical and practical information on sustainable agriculture.

The websites are constantly reviewed, adjusted and upgraded to make them more friendly to the users. We welcome you to this much improved, more user-friendly FFTC website, re-designed and renovated to enhance the Center’s technology transfer mission, facilitate interaction and networking among partner institutions and stakeholders within the region, and make possible a more cost-effective way of disseminating practical information to our users, particularly the farmers.

In order to make our Center to a more effective international agricultural and policy information center, currently these four websites are undergoing total renewal. It is expected that before the 50th anniversary celebration next April there will be four totally upgraded new websites, including FFTC English website, FFTC Chinese version website, FFTC Agricultural Policy Platform website and FFTC dragon fruit network (DFNet) website. In the 50th anniversary celebration we will also show our newly produced version of FFTC introduction film.
